The Barn exists to empower players with the tools they need to to Become their best, Achieve their goals, Remain humble and Never quit.
We believe development at its core is built in layers. We build players from the ground up, starting with fundamental basics as the foundation.
We believe each player has a unique way of understanding and applying the training. As coaches, it’s our job to provide them with multiple approaches and opportunities for them to best achieve their success.
We strive to help players perfect their natural abilities and mechanics. It’s about quality, not quantity. We do not shy away from opportunities to fail forward in order to build the individual confidence and mental toughness required for success at the highest levels of play.
We believe talent is necessary and that baseball IQ and situational awareness is what sets players apart. We strive to build the complete ballplayer who embodies all three.
We achieve this through repetitive, structured and timed team practices, individual private lessons and small group training sessions.
We provide opportunities to train year round with a heavy emphasis on proper arm care and player sustainability.
Stay ready. Then you won’t have to get ready.

Kevin’s heart is in the baseball community of Florida
He is a Pensacola native who grew up playing at NEP from pre-tee to tee-ball and then again for minors and majors. He was on the 10U All-Stars team, won state, and went on to represent Florida in the Dixie Youth World Series in Chattanooga, TN.
He is a 2006 graduate of West Florida High School of Advanced Technology where he was awarded the All-State Pitcher award three times and the All-Area Pitcher of the Year award as a senior. To this day, he still holds the single season earned run average record with an ERA of 0.31.
His accolades at West Florida are still records today: 182 innings pitched, 23 wins, 28 games started, 9 shutouts, 15 strikeouts in one game and a career ERA of 0.77.
Kevin attended Alabama Southern Community College after West Florida Tech where he was a 2-time All-Conference Pitcher and 3-time Conference Pitcher of the Week.
He finished his college eligibility with the Argos at University of West Florida. There, he was awarded the Louisville Slugger Pitcher of the Week award twice, All-Conference team twice, and was the Conference Pitcher of the Week 8 times. He was the first pitcher to throw a No-Hitter in UWF history (on his mom’s birthday).
After college, he had a brief showing with the Pensacola Pelicans before he was taken in the 2010 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 20th Round. He played in their system for 6 seasons at every level.
In 2012 he pitched in the Freeway Series at Dodger Stadium and set the Single Season Save record for the Texas League while playing AA for the Arkansas Travelers. In 2013 he was selected to play in the Texas League All-Star game.
Kevin has been married to Courtney Johnson since 2010. They have two children, Addelyn and Koby and currently reside in the Florida Panhandle where he has been training players ranging from t-ball to college since 2015.
They opened The Barn in 2017 in hopes of providing players with opportunities to receive the high level of training Kevin did playing professionally.
Kevin is currently an on-field director for Baseball Factory, volunteer assistant coach at the University of West Florida and continues to run camps, clinics and private lessons while coaching his kids in the local rec league.
“Baseball has always been a huge part of my life. I feel extremely blessed and humbled to be given the chance to coach young athletes and assist them in reaching their own goals.”
